"whore" comment about Meg Whitman

Personally, I think this is only as big of a deal as people choose to make it. The words did not come directly from the mouth of Jerry Brown and even though yes, it may have been his wife, that does not mean it should directly reflect the opinions and thoughts of Jerry Brown. Yes, Meg Whitman is his competition and therefore he most like may feel like calling her a "whore" from time to time, however that is not what has happened. He has no control over what his wife says nor was he to know that he was still leaving a voicemail. If the media chooses to make a huge deal about this incident that I think they are wasting their time because clearly there is going to be hostility between the two candidates and obviously there will be name calling going on. If the media were to only highlight this incident and pretend like nothing else goes on behind closed doors, then it will seem quite obvious to the public how biased the news source is being. So yes, calling Meg Whitman a "whore" was disrespectful and uncalled for, however it is not the end of the world and through sincere apology and a lack of media attention this should easily blow over.

  1. I agree that this 'incident' is not nearly as big of a deal as the media and some people make it out to be. Both candidates must say mean or disrespectful things about their competition as they're human beings just like anyone else. For someone to directly state that it is Jerry Brown's wife is absurd unless they have definitive proof that she was the one saying it, because chances are the only reason someone would blame it on Jerry Brown's wife is to ruin his public image by making Mrs. Brown seem like she is a terrible person.

  2. I agree with you both. I think the media especially would do more good covering more important things in the election than what Jerry Brown's wife or campaign manager says about his competitor. I think, like Andrea said, after an apology this whole story should be unimportant.

  3. I agree that it should not reflect the opinions or ideas of Jerry brown but this is another example of how we need to get both sides to be less hostile towards one another and get them to agree on some things.

  4. it just gives the news something to talk about and wanted some more drama in the race for governor. it becomes disruptive to the political prosses.
